This workshop aims to provide an overview of designing, implementing or commissioning a high-quality evaluation. No matter where you work across the health and social services sector, measuring outcomes and reporting on your impact is critical.

Evaluation Ready will assist you in understanding evaluation concepts and methods that you will be able to implement within your organisation straight away. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions and have them answered by the facilitator along the way, as well as learn from others working in similar areas.

What can you expect to learn in the workshop?

Evaluation Ready introduces attendees to the following concepts:

  • Defining what evaluation is and why it is important

  • Understanding what makes for an effective, defensible and impactful evaluation

  • Being aware of ethical considerations when evaluating

  • Designing your evaluation approach to align with your priorities

  • Drafting meaningful and relevant evaluation questions

  • Selecting indicators, data sources and evaluation methods

  • Collecting high quality data

  • Understanding how to create powerful reporting and data visualisation

  • Experienced and knowledgeable monitoring and evaluation practitioners — this workshop is an introductory overview so is likely not suited to you.

What is the format of the workshop?

  • The workshop will consist of a number of modules, including practical activities, real-life case examples and time for asking questions and troubleshooting

  • You will take home a set of tools to help design your own evaluation or program review back in your workplace. All attendees will receive a self-guided workbook, including examples and templates, as well as meeting a range of new people who can support you on your evaluation journey.

  • We encourage workshop participants to stick around after the session to network and share learnings.
