Welcoming Alicia Bruce, Beacon Strategies Consultant

In April this year, we welcomed Alicia Bruce to the Beacon Strategies team!

Alicia joined us from Brisbane South PHN and has been with us for some time now (part of the furniture you could say). It’s very exciting to have another highly capable set of hands with lots of PHN experience now settled into our team.

Briefly describe your professional journey so far

With a Bachelor of Health Science (Nutrition) I have been fortunate to work in a number of different roles across the health system. My professional journey has spanned Not for Profit, Non-Government Organisations, community and client-facing roles. I have experience in managing multiple complex programs and projects, program development, implementation and evaluation, commissioning and primary health care.

What are you passionate about?

Each of the positions in my career has been centred around improving health outcomes for communities. While I have thoroughly enjoyed working at the coalface and directly with patients, my passion is at a system level where I feel I can truly make an impact.

Why did you join the Beacon Strategies team?

I have been fortunate to watch Beacon Strategies grow over the last few years into the purposeful health and social services consultancy that it is today. Combining my experience and passion, Beacon Strategies is the perfect place for me to do some really meaningful work. The team at Beacon Strategies are highly skilled and passionate about their work and it is definitely the perfect fit for me.

What technical skills do you bring to the team?

The technical knowledge that I bring to the Beacon Strategies team is in program and project management, health system knowledge, an intimate understanding of primary health care and invaluable knowledge about PHNs.

What do you hope to achieve in your first year with Beacon?

In my first year at Beacon Strategies, I am looking forward to working alongside the team and their wonderful clients on a variety of different projects. I am hoping to learn the ropes of ‘consultancy’ and be able to add value to the work that the team at Beacon Strategies produce.

What do you like to get up to in your spare time?

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, anything food-related (cooking or eating) and travelling.

As a mission-based health and social services consultancy, Beacon Strategies is committed to partnering with PHNs to better plan, design, implement, evaluate and communicate their work in delivering health outcomes for local communities.
