City Heart Cabs: Ipswich City Council

Status: Completed December 2020

Client: Ipswich City Council

Background

Ipswich City Council’s City Heart Cabs program provides subsidised transport for seniors, people with disabilities and their carers to access local shopping centres to help reduce social isolation and improve community connectedness.

Ipswich City Council engaged Beacon Strategies to review the utility and performance of the City Heart Cabs Program.

Approach

Our project approach will involve working closely with Ipswich City Council staff and local stakeholders to:

  • Learn from similar models being operated by other local governments

  • Align the program’s delivery with the needs of residents and local communities

  • Contribute to achieving the Council’s objectives

Outcomes

Beacon Strategies delivered a final report outlining the program review process and provided recommendations for the future state of the operation. To support the ICC to implement the proposed recommendations, a change management report was delivered to highlight how ICC could effectively run the change management process.

The delivered report was discussed in detail at an Ipswich City Council Committee in February 2021. If you’re interested to know more about the contents of this report, you can find the agenda for this meeting and the full report delivered to the Council here.
